Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance has unearthed cash of Rs 7.29 lakh and around 300 grams of gold jewellery from the government residential quarter of a District Labour Officer (DLO) in Kendujhar following his arrest in a bribery case.
Akash Bisoi, DLO, Kendujhar, was arrested by the Vigilance on Sunday evening for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 from an electrical contractor.
According to the Vigilance department, Bisoi had demanded the bribe for granting a labour licence in favour of the contractor’s agency. He was caught while accepting the bribe, following which simultaneous searches were launched at two locations linked to him.
During the search of his government residential quarter in Kendujhar, Vigilance officials recovered and seized Rs 7,29,200 in cash. Around 300 grams of gold jewellery was also recovered from the house.
The Vigilance department said further investigation is underway and a detailed report will follow.
