Odisha reports 5 more Covid-19 cases, 4 from Bhubaneswar and 1 from Khordha

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Health Department on Wednesday confirmed the detection of five new COVID-19 positive cases in the state, raising concerns about a possible resurgence of infections.

According to official sources, four of the newly infected individuals are residents of Bhubaneswar, while one case has been reported from the Khordha district. Among the five cases, four are male and one is female. Health authorities have initiated contact tracing and containment measures in the affected areas. The infected individuals have been shifted to isolation facilities and are currently under medical supervision.

Public health officials have urged citizens to remain vigilant, adhere to COVID-19 appropriate behaviour, and report any symptoms promptly. Although the number of cases remains low, the State government is monitoring the situation closely to prevent further spread of the virus.

On May 22, Odisha reported its first positive case of Covid-19 after a gap of almost 2.5 years. The infected person had returned to Bhubaneswar from Delhi and subsequently tested positive for the virus. Later, he was placed under treatment in a private hospital in the city as a precautionary measure.

The first case of the Covid-19 pandemic was reported in Odisha on 16 March 2020.
