Bhubaneswar: The last date to apply for the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) is May 31, announced Odisha Panchayati Raj Minister Rabi Narayan Naik, urging all eligible beneficiaries to complete their registration by the deadline.
Speaking to media, Naik said, “So far, we have received around 36.81 lakh applications. Our portal has been linked with the central portal, and after May 31, a survey will be conducted.”
Sharing details about the Antyodaya Housing Scheme, the minister said that the families who were left out of all existing housing schemes will be provided homes under this initiative.
“In the first phase, nearly 60,000 houses have already been allotted. We are preparing the beneficiary list, and the entire process will be completed within two months,” he added.
The second phase of housing allotment will begin after the monsoon season, the minister informed.
The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) is a flagship housing scheme launched by the Government of India to provide affordable housing to the urban and rural poor. Its aim is to ensure “Housing for All” by the year 2022.
Under this scheme, eligible beneficiaries receive financial assistance to construct or upgrade their homes. The scheme covers both urban and rural areas through PMAY-Urban and PMAY-Gramin components.
Special priority is given to women, SC/STs, and economically weaker sections. The scheme not only helps in improving living conditions but also contributes to the overall development of rural and urban infrastructure.
