Bhubaneswar: The State Election Commission (SEC), Odisha, conducted a state-level training program for the upcoming 2027 Panchayati Raj Institution (PRI) and Urban Local Body (ULB) polls.
Chaired by State Election Commissioner Madhusudan Padhi, the conference focused on executing an extensive house-to-house verification drive to ensure no eligible citizen is omitted from the voter list. The session opened with a welcome address by SEC Secretary Santosh Kumar Das.
The high-level meeting brought together key administrative officials from across all districts, including Additional District Magistrates (ADMs), Sub-Collectors, District Panchayat Officers, Assistant/Deputy Commissioners, Executive Officers, Block Development Officers (BDOs), and BLO Supervisors.
Director of Municipal Administration, Arindam Dakua, delivered a detailed overview of the urban house-to-house survey process. Surya Narayan Dash, Joint Secretary of the Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Department, highlighted critical operational aspects of the rural poll preparations.
To share practical insights from pilot surveys, Bhubaneswar Sub-Collector Manoranjan Sahoo, Balipatna Block GPDO Haraprasad Mohanty, and BLO Supervisor Sudhakar Behera presented their field experiences to the delegates.
Addressing the attendees, State Election Commissioner Madhusudan Padhi emphasised that accuracy, transparency, and accountability must remain paramount at every stage of the electoral process. The statewide door-to-door survey will be conducted from October 26 to November 7.

During the presentation, officials were instructed to link houses, house numbers, voters, and Assembly Constituency part/serial numbers accurately. Each voter will be tagged to their physical residence with cross-referencing to eliminate duplicates. Claims and objections can be submitted directly to the Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) within the stipulated timeframe.
