Bhubaneswar: Power restoration in southern Odisha following the devastating impact of cyclone Arnab and subsequent flooding has reached 99.28 per cent, with electricity supply fully restored in six districts, according to the Department of Energy.
As of 8 pm on Monday, electricity had been restored to 17,75,975 of the 17,88,942 affected consumers under the operational jurisdiction of TP Southern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPSODL). However, 12,967 consumers were still awaiting reconnection.
The restoration drive has also achieved significant progress in repairing damaged power infrastructure. All 46 affected 33 kV feeders, 130 primary substations (PSS) operating at 33/11 kV, and 658 affected 11 kV feeders have been restored to full operational capacity.
Of the 278 affected power transformers (PTRs), 277 have been restored. Similarly, 56,443 of the 56,706 distribution transformers (DTRs) have been brought back into operation.
Boudh, Rayagada, Gajapati, Malkangiri, Koraput and Nabarangpur have achieved 100 per cent power restoration, bringing relief to residents in the six districts.
Restoration work is nearing completion in the remaining two districts. Kandhamal has recorded 99.78 per cent restoration, with 325 consumers still awaiting power supply. Ganjam has achieved 98.48 per cent restoration, with repair work continuing in the affected areas.
Field engineers and technical teams are working round the clock to repair the remaining localised faults and reconnect the outstanding consumers. The department is focusing on completing the restoration process at the earliest to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply across all cyclone- and flood-affected areas.
The latest figures indicate that electricity supply has been restored to nearly all affected consumers, although efforts remain underway to reach those still without power.
