Retired principal of driving training school gets 3 year jail term in corruption case

Bhubaneswar: Convicting a retired Principal of the Government Driving Training School in a disproportionate assets case, a special Vigilance Court on Friday sentenced him to three years in jail.

The Special Judge of Vigilance Court convicted Pravakar Behera, former Principal of the Government Driving Training School, Bhubaneswar, for possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on Behera.

Odisha Vigilance had earlier filed a chargesheet against Behera under Sections 13(2) read with 13(1)(e) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, in connection with the case.

Vigilance officials said the State Vigilance will move the competent authority to stop Behera’s pension following his conviction.
