PM Modi likely to join celebrations on 1st anniversary of Mohan Majhi Govt

Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Odisha on June 12 to take part in the one-year completion celebrations, marking the first anniversary of the BJP government, led by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, in the state.

Speaking to the media, Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra on Thursday said that the PM has given his consent to attend the celebrations here. “Events will be held in every district and panchayat, with ministers engaging directly with people at the grassroots, visiting households to highlight the government’s achievements over the past year,” he added.

During his visit to Delhi last month, the CM had invited PM Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah to attend the grand state-level function scheduled for June 12 at Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar and also Lord Jagannath’s Rath Yatra in Puri on June 27. The function is being planned at a scale similar to the launch of the Subhadra Yojana by PM Modi on September 17 last year, sources said.

Cultural programmes are already underway at district-level. Branded vans will travel across all 314 blocks of Odisha from June 5 to 19 to highlight the government’s accomplishments and increase public awareness of major governance reforms, flagship programmes, and public service initiatives. A 5-minute theme song and a 25-minute long thematic audio-visual documentary are also part of the mega outreach programme to amplify the achievements of the Majhi government in Odisha.

Starting next week, state-wide celebrations will feature thematic events. On June 13, a women-focused programme will be held in Berhampur, followed by a youth event in Dhenkanal on June 18. A tribal-focused program is scheduled in Mayurbhanj on June 19, and a farmers’ event will take place in Bargarh on June 20.

The government’s monthly magazine, Pragati Prabaha, will showcase success stories from departments, covering themes like women empowerment, agriculture, industries, Odia identity, governance, health, education, infrastructure, and sports.

During Rath Yatra, the tourism department will promote achievements in in-flight magazines and display content at major airports.

The Odia Language and Literature department will hold an artist camp themed ‘Vision Odisha@2036’ with institutions like Lalit Kala Akademi. Theatre performances at Rabindra Mandap from June 12 to 19 will honour Odisha’s icons like Madhusudan Das, Fakir Mohan Senapati, Sara Das, Bhima Bhoi, and Rama Devi. Classic Odia films such as Abhiman, Sesha Shrabana, and Sita Bibaha will be screened at Jaydev Bhawan in Bhubaneswar and other locations like Berhampur, Rourkela, and Sambalpur. Musical evenings at Bhanja Kala Mandap will celebrate singing legends like Bhikari Bal and Akshaya Mohanty, the report further said.

The Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water department will organise Vikas Melas and Pallishree Melas across districts, while the Mission Shakti department will host a traditional food festival to highlight Odisha’s culinary heritage. The School and Mass education department will conduct online essay and painting competitions on ‘Vision Odisha@2036’ and ‘Viksit Bharat@2047′, it added.
