Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday reviewed the Proactive Governance Attempt for Yielding Results and Advancing Social Sector (PRAYASS) at Lok Seva Bhawan here.
The comprehensive session focused on grassroots-level interventions, aiming to deliver permanent and swift solutions to complex challenges across three crucial pillars of society: Health and Family Welfare, Women and Child Development, and School and Mass Education.
Opening the deliberations, Majhi emphasised that a strong, resilient society can only be built on the bedrock of robust healthcare, proper nutrition, and quality education. He urged the respective departments to step up accountability and enhance field-level efficiency to better serve citizens’ fundamental needs.
With a sharp focus on healthcare delivery, the Chief Minister instructed health officials to adopt a mission-mode approach to bring down maternal mortality rates (MMR), infant mortality rates (IMR), and neonatal mortality rates to absolute minimums.

The directives also highlighted strengthening emergency medical services across government hospitals and reinforcing healthcare workers’ sense of duty.
Addressing developmental hurdles like stunting and wasting caused by childhood malnutrition, CM Majhi called for an aggressive scaling up of the ‘Suposhita Odisha’ campaign. He stressed rigorous monitoring and quality control of nutritional food supplies distributed through Anganwadi centers to ensure wholesome health outcomes for mothers and children.
Turning to the education sector, the Chief Minister underscored the necessity of reinforcing foundational learning right from the primary school level. He advised educators to maintain their primary focus on teaching and core academic activities, predicting a significant leap in student proficiency as a result.
