Boudh: In a major crackdown on red rebels, security forces unearthed a Maoist hideout near Kanagun village in Odisha’s Boudh district and seized a huge quantity of explosive materials.
Acting on an intelligence input, a joint team comprising the personnel of the Special Operations Group (SOG), District Voluntary Force (DVF), and a bomb disposal squad on Saturday launched an operation in Matakupa protected forest under the jurisdiction of Manmunda police station.
The raid to the seizure of a cache of explosives, including 36 detonators, 33 gelatin sticks, Maoist uniforms, and propaganda materials, a police official said, describing the seizure as a major achievement against Maoist activities in the region.
Though no Maoist was found at the site, neutralisation of the hideout and seizure of explosive materials was a significant achievement in the battle against the ultras, police said.
Earlier, security forces destroyed a Maoist camp inside the dense Saranda forest along Odisha’s border with Jharkhand.
