Sambalpur: A 40-year-old woman was allegedly killed by her husband near Sen Park in Odisha’s Sambalpur on Saturday night, with police suspecting that the murder was linked to his doubts over her alleged extramarital affair with another man.
The deceased has been identified as Heena Begum, wife of Syed Samsad Ali. According to Additional SP Ajay Mishra, Syed suspected Heena of having an illicit relationship with another man. The couple had an argument on Saturday evening when Heena had gone out for a walk.
During the altercation, Syed attacked Heena with a knife and later hit her on the head with a nearby paver block. She died at the spot. Following the incident, Syed surrendered at the Town police station and confessed to the crime.
Police have seized the knife used in the attack and the paver block from the crime scene. Further investigation is underway.
