Bhubaneswar: Heavy rain accompanied by severe thunderstorm and lightning lashed the state capital Bhubaneswar on Wednesday afternoon. The city has been experiencing high levels of humidity followed by nor’wester-induced rain for 2 days.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange warning for seven districts of Odisha, Including twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. Moderate thunderstorm/lightning with surface wind 40-50 kmph and moderate rainfall may occur at isolated places in Bhadrak, Cuttack (including Cuttack city), Ganjam, Jagatsinghapur, Jajapur, Kendrapada, Khurda (including Bhubaneswar city) in the next 2 hours.
Similar warning was also sounded for Angul, Balangir, Bargarh, Boudh, Kandhamal, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Gajapati, Rayagada, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Jajapur, Kendrapada, Sundargarh and Ganjam till 4.30 pm.
