Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance on Sunday arrested four more persons in connection with an alleged financial fraud involving government funds of Rs 9.24 crore at the office of the Superintending Engineer (SE), Roads and Buildings (R&B) Division-I, Bhubaneswar.
Those arrested have been identified as Dipak Kumar Routray and Laxman Biswal, both peons at the SE office, and two private data entry operators, Rajib Lochan Senapati and Soumya Ranjan Mohapatra.
According to the Vigilance, the four allegedly acted in collusion with Section Officer Banalata Mohanty and Junior Assistant Bibhudutta Nayak, who were arrested earlier in connection with the case.
During the investigation, the Vigilance found that the four newly arrested persons had allegedly received substantial amounts from the embezzled government funds in their personal bank accounts.
The agency said Rs 32.47 lakh had been transferred to the account of Dipak Kumar Routray, while Rs 16.21 lakh was transferred to Laxman Biswal.
Similarly, Rajib Lochan Senapati allegedly received Rs 28.28 lakh and Soumya Ranjan Mohapatra received Rs 35.69 lakh in their private bank accounts.
The Vigilance said Senapati and Mohapatra had been engaged as private data entry operators by accused Section Officer Banalata Mohanty. The Odisha Vigilance said further investigation into the alleged embezzlement is underway.
