Puri: Shree Jagannath Temple in Odisha;s Puri will remain out of bounds for devotees for five hours on Thursday for Bamana Janma ritual.
The darshan will be restricted from 5 pm to 10 pm after ‘Madhyahna Dhupa’ to facilitate the smooth conduct of the ritual on September 4, the 12th bright day of the month of Bhadraba, the temple administration stated.
‘Bamana Janma Niti’ marks the birth of Lord Bamana, the fifth avatar of Lord Vishnu. Lord Jagannath is dressed like “Bamana” (dwarf) on this auspicious occasion, the avatar which Lord Vishnu took to bring balance in the world by defeating the Demon King Bali, an immortal Asura blessed with Amrit and one of the seven Chiranjeevi. This incarnation is believed to have been taken during the Treta Yuga.
