Bhubaneswar: Ahead of the commencement of the seventh session of the 17th Odisha Legislative Assembly, Odisha Director General of Police (DGP) Binaytosh Mishra reviewed the security arrangements.
The 17th session of the Odisha Legislative Assembly is scheduled to begin on September 22. Elaborate security arrangements have been put in place, with a three-tier security system planned around the Assembly premises.
Barricades have been erected on various roads leading to the Assembly, and only authorised vehicles will be allowed to enter the designated routes. Separate entry arrangements have been made for legislators and ministers, journalists and the Speaker.
Security inside the Assembly premises has been accorded special attention. Around 30 platoons of police personnel will be deployed on static duty at different locations within the Assembly complex, while another six to 10 platoons will be deployed outside the premises.
Security personnel will also be deployed on rooftops of the Assembly building and nearby structures as part of the security arrangements. Teams from the security intelligence wing will also be deployed.
Every day before the Assembly session begins, the entire building will be thoroughly checked by dog squads and anti-sabotage teams. The checks will focus on detecting any explosives or suspicious materials inside the premises.
The police will also keep a close watch on the activities and movements of various organisations and sensitive groups during the session to prevent any disruption to law and order.
The police have made extensive preparations to ensure the smooth conduct of the session and maintain law and order in and around the Assembly premises, informed the DGP.
