Bhubaneswar: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Monday appointed senior leaders of the party as convenors of its state-level frontal wings/cells.
According to the office order issued by party supremo Naveen Patnaik, Prasanna Acharya will head the Biju Krushak Janata Dal in the rank of senior vice president. Similarly, A U Singh Deo has been appointed as convenor of BJD Regional Development Cell and Ranendra Pratap Swain of BJD Co-operative Cell, Badri Narayan Patra of BJD Sikya o Sikhyaka Cell, Ramesh Chandra Chyu Patnaik of BJD Fishermen Cell and Mangala Kisan of BJD Tribal Cell in the rank of senior vice president.
Debashish Samnataray will head the BJD Senior Citizen Cell and Arun Sahoo the BJD OBC Cell in the rank of vice president.
It further informed about appointment of Mahesh Sahoo and Amar Patnaik as convenors of BJD SC Cell and BJD IT and Social Media Cell, respectively, in the rank of senior general secretary.
The BJD also constituted BJD Minority Cell with Dilip Tirkey as its convenor, Rizwana Begum as co-convenor and Muzibulla Khan, Ayub Khan and Sk Nizamudding as co-cordinators for south, western and central zones, respectively.
In view of the organisational elections, Naveen in January this year had also dissolved frontal organisations – Biju Mahila Janata Dal, Biju Yuva Janata Dal, Biju Chhatra Janata Dal, Biju Shramika Samukhya, legal cell, and Apravasi cell – to bolster its organisation at the grassroots level, considering the panchayat and urban local body elections scheduled for 2027.
