Dubai Odia community to celebrate ‘Nuakhai Bhetghat’ on October 4

Bhubaneswar: Continuing its efforts to preserve and promote Odisha’s rich culture, traditions and spirit of unity among the diaspora, Nuakhai Paribar UAE is all set to organise the 12th edition of ‘Nuakhai Bhetghat’ in Dubai on October 4.

The date for this year’s celebration was finalised by the Working Committee of Nuakhai Paribar UAE following detailed discussions and consultations with members of the Odia community in the UAE.

Nuakhai Bhetghat has emerged as one of the major annual gatherings of the Odia community in the UAE, bringing together families and generations to celebrate the traditional agrarian festival of Odisha. The event also provides a platform to showcase Odisha’s rich cultural heritage, music, dance, art and traditions, with special emphasis on encouraging local talent, children and the younger generation.

During the recent visit of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi to Dubai in connection with the investor meet, Nuakhai Paribar UAE extended a special invitation to the Chief Minister to attend the 12th Nuakhai Bhetghat.

The organisers said that the invitation reflects the community’s desire to strengthen the connection between Odisha and the Odia diaspora in the UAE and to provide an opportunity for the Chief Minister to interact with the vibrant Odia community living in the Emirates.

Nuakhai Paribar UAE has been organising Nuakhai Bhetghat for several years with the objective of keeping the traditions and cultural identity of Odisha alive on foreign soil. The organisation believes that Nuakhai is not merely a festival but a celebration of Odia identity, togetherness, gratitude, brotherhood and community spirit.

The 12th edition is expected to witness participation from a large number of Odia families across the UAE. The organisers are also planning a vibrant cultural programme featuring Odia music, dance and performances by local artists and children.
