Drunk man kills wife over ‘Subhadra’ money for liquor in Jagatsinghpur

Jagatsinghpur: A woman was allegedly killed by her husband after she refused to give him money from the ‘Subhadra’ scheme financial assistance for buying liquor in Jagatsinghpur district of Odisha. The incident took place at Balrampur village under Jagatsinghpur Sadar police limits on Saturday night.

According to reports, the accused, identified as Badal alias Digambar Swain, returned home in an inebriated condition and asked his wife, Pushpalata Swain, to prepare dried fish for him to eat. He also demanded money from her ‘Subhadra’ assistance to buy more liquor.

When Pushpalata refused to prepare food at the late hour and refused to give him money, Digambar became furious and attacked her with a sharp weapon. She sustained serious injuries and died in the attack.

Locals then nabbed Digambar and handed him over to the police. Further probe into the matter is underway.

Digambar allegedly used to consume alcohol regularly and assault his wife.
