Fresh low pressure likely to form off south Odisha coast this month

Bhubaneswar: A fresh weather system is likely to develop over the Bay of Bengal off the south Odisha and adjoining north Andhra Pradesh coasts later this month, according to the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) extended-range outlook for cyclogenesis.

The IMD has forecasted the formation of an upper-air cyclonic circulation over the west-central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal around September 9. The system is expected to form off the south Odisha and adjoining north Andhra Pradesh coasts.

Under the influence of the cyclonic circulation, a low pressure area is likely to develop over the same region around September 11. The system is then likely to move northwestwards and may maintain its intensity until around September 13, it added.
