70 quintals of adulterated paneer worth Rs 17 lakh destroyed in Kataka

Kataka: A major crackdown on adulterated paneer was carried out in Odisha’s Kataka ahead of the festive season on Wednesday. The Health department of the Kataka Municipal Corporation (KMC) reportedly seized 70 quintals of paneer and chhena from Madhupatna Square here.

The seizure raised concern among consumers as synthetic paneer was allegedly being sold openly in the market. The seized products were reportedly adulterated with maida and a chemical substance called Paras.

The Health Department seized the large consignment during its ongoing enforcement against adulterated paneer. The paneer and chhena were reportedly being brought from Niali and Adaspur in Kataka.

Following the seizure, all the adulterated paneer and chhena were destroyed. The value of the destroyed paneer was estimated to be around Rs 17 lakh.

The operation is part of the ongoing crackdown on adulterated paneer in the city. Authorities continued enforcement activities to check the sale of such products and prevent consumers from being exposed to adulterated food items.
