Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare department has intensified its crackdown on the illegal stockpiling of LPG cylinders, seizing 8,208 cylinders in raids across 3,792 locations statewide.
In an update shared on its official X account, officials confirmed that 46 FIRs have been registered, while 492 cases were booked under the Essential Commodities Act. So far, nine persons have been arrested in connection with the illegal hoarding.
The enforcement drive aims to curb black‑marketing of domestic LPG cylinders and ensure smooth supply to genuine consumers. Authorities said the raids will continue across districts to prevent artificial shortages and protect consumer interests.
Officials reiterated that strict action will be taken against violators, with district enforcement teams directed to maintain vigilance and act swiftly against illegal stockpiling.
