Two workers die of suffocation inside septic tank in Koraput

Koraput: In a tragic incident, two workers died while another was in a critical condition due to suffocation inside an under-construction septic tank at a village in Odisha’s Koraput district on Thursday.

According to information, the workers had entered the tank during construction work at Chandili village under Kotpad block but fell unconscious due to a suspected lack of oxygen inside the confined space. The deceased have been identified as Hemant Thakur and Haran Pratyasha.

After receiving information, a police team rushed to the spot and initiated an investigation. The critically injured worker was rescued and admitted to a nearby hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment

Initial findings indicate oxygen deficiency inside the tank may have caused the suffocation. Authorities have launched a detailed probe to ascertain the exact circumstances surrounding the incident. Appropriate legal action will be taken after a detailed investigation into the incident, police said.
