Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance on Saturday unearthed huge assets, including five multi-storey buildings and 13 high-value plots during raids at places linked to Baikuntha Nath Behera, Assistant Executive Engineer of ITDA at Baliguda, Kandhamal, on allegations of possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
During house searches so far, the assets have been unearthed in the name of Behera and his family members. These include a four-storey building with area 10,500 sqft at Niladri Vihar, a triple-storey building with area 1100 sqft at Sailshree Vihar, a double-storey building with area 3750 sqft at Kanan Vihar in Patia, a double-storey building with area 2500 sqft at Chandrasekharpur in Bhubaneswar and a double-storey building with area 2500 sqft at Pandua in Jajpur’s Dharmasala. The high value plots include 7 in prime locations of Bhubaneswar, 5 in Dharmasala & and 1 in Baripada.
The measurement and valuation/assessment of the above buildings/plots are being carried out by the Vigilance Technical Wing. This apart, cash of Rs.2,66,400 was also seized. The bank, postal deposits and other investments in financial instruments are being ascertained.
The searches are being carried out by teams led by two Additional SPs, five DSPs, six Inspectors and other supporting staff under search warrants issued by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar. Official sources said the raids are being conducted simultaneously in Bhubaneswar, Baripada, Dharmasala in Jajpur district, and Baliguda in Kandhamal district.
