Helper slits cook’s throat after drunken brawl

Bhubaneswar: A cook of an eatery at Station Road in Patia area of Bhubaneswar was critically injured after his assistant allegedly attacked him with a sharp weapon, slitting his throat during a heated drunken brawl late Monday night.

The victim has been identified as Ashish Mohanty, a resident of Jagatsinghpur. He was immediately rushed to Capital Hospital here and later shifted to a private hospital due to the severity of the neck injury. Doctors have described his condition as critical but stable under observation.

Meanwhile, Chandrasekhar police have nabbed his assistant, K Lab Rao, who is being interrogated. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances leading to the attack.
