Rayagada: A major accident was narrowly avoided after a bulker truck carrying aluminium powder overturned onto three houses near Kanak Parameswari Temple in Muniguda block of Odisha’s Rayagada district early Sunday morning.
According to reports, the truck was on its way from Visakhapatnam to Jharsuguda when the driver reportedly lost control near the temple. The vehicle veered off the road and toppled onto nearby houses, causing significant structural damage.
Walls of the houses collapsed, and asbestos roofing sheets were shattered in the impact. Despite the severity of the incident, members of all three families managed to escape unharmed, avoiding what could have been a tragic loss of life.
The exact cause of the accident remains unclear. Police from Muniguda reached the spot soon after the incident, brought the situation under control and have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances leading to the crash.
Locals expressed concern over road safety in the area, especially with heavy vehicles frequently passing through the stretch.
