Jajpur: In a tragic road mishap, three members of a family were killed and two others critically injured after a tractor carrying them overturned in Balichandrapur area of Odisha’s Jajpur district.
As per sources, the incident took place near Pattamundai canal at Bahadurnagar village under the jurisdiction of Balichandrapur Police Station late on Saturday night.
The deceased have been identified Utsava Dalei (60), his wife Bengal Dalei (55) and their grandson Duryodhan Dalei (14).
The incident reportedly took place around 11 pm when the victims were returning home after fishing. The tractor, carrying five people, overturned near the canal at Bahadurnagar. All of them sustained serious injuries and were rushed to the community health centre (CHC) at Badachana Hospital, where doctors declared three dead.
The condition of the other two injured persons, undergoing treatment at the hospital, is reported to be critical.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident and a team visited the accident site.
