Woman donates eyes of deceased husband in Balasore village

Balasore: A woman, grief-stricken by the accidental death of her husband, donated his eyes in Odisha’s Balasore district to fulfil his wish while encouraging organ donation. The incident was reported from Nuasahi village under Nilgiri block in the district.

According to sources, Kamalakanta Madhei (45), who worked at a shrimp processing plant, was electrocuted to death while on duty. Showing large heartedness in the face of anguish, Malati Madhei decided to donate his eyes. “When my husband was alive, he had asked me to donate his eyes after his death and allow someone to eye the world,” said Malati.

Nilgiri MLA Sukanta Nayak hailed the family for taking this decision and setting an example for all.
