Jeypore: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday revealed plans for a new Vande Bharat Express train between Jeypore and Bhubaneswar.
Majhi made the announcement while disbursing third instalment of financial assistance under Subhadra Yojana. He also laid foundation stone for 436 projects worth Rs 452 crore and inaugurated 126 projects valued at Rs 309.42 crore, launching development works totalling Rs 762 crore in Koraput district across sectors like education, health, roads, bridges, and tourism, on the occasion.
The CM also announced revival of Jeypore’s paper mill and the establishment of a new college in the town.
Calling Subhadra “a ray of hope” for women forced to abandon their dreams due to financial constraints, Majhi said the scheme has enabled lakhs of women to start or expand businesses, turning financial aid into self-reliance. Special initiatives under the scheme–Subhadra Plus, Subhadra Shakti Mela, Subhadra Kishori, Subhadra Sanchay, Subhadra Suraksha, and Subhadra Sakhi–are fostering entrepreneurship, savings, safety, and leadership among women, he added.
Deputy CMs Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo and Pravati Parida also lauded the scheme’s success.
