Utkala Utsaba: World Odisha Society to celebrate its 5th Foundation Day on January 14

New Delhi: The World Odisha Society (WOS) is all set to celebrate its Fifth Foundation Day on 14th January at New Delhi. A mammoth festival entitled ‘Utkala Utsaba’ will be organised in a hybrid mode to commemorate the grand occasion, informed Chairman of WOS Kishore Dwibedi on Monday.

Rich performing arts forms, vibrant cultural heritage and lofty traditional ethos of Odisha will be showcased in a befitting manner during the mega event. While distinguished dignitaries of Delhi and National Capital Region are expected to congregate at the physical venue of the ceremony at Civil Servies Officers’ Institute at Kasturba Gandhi Marg in New Delhi in large numbers, members and office bearers of World Odisha Society across the Globe, top notch non-resident Odia leaders and representatives of Odia Samajs spreading all over the World are expected to take part in the celebration through virtual mode, he said.

USA based famous cardiac surgeon, Founder of Orissa Cultural Centre at Houston and Chairman of Utkal Hospital at Bhubaneswar Dr. Aditya Kumar Samal has been nominated to receive First Biswa Odia Samman. Secretary of the Managing Committee of New Delhi’s Hauz Khas Jagannath temple, Sree Neelachal Seva Sangh and noted social leader Ravindranath Pradhan and WOS’s Prime Mentor Pritish Ranjan Dash have been designated to receive Second Prabasi Odia Sammans. First Utkala Mitra Samman will be conferred on Former Governor of Odisha and renowned Scholar Prof. Ganeshi Lal.

Late Professor Dr Digambar Mishra will receive the Prabasi Odia Samman posthumously for his remarkable role in promoting, propagating and popularising Odisha’s art, culture and heritage in U.S.A vigorously for several years. Reputed Philanthropic Institutions like Lok Sevak Mandal, Rays Foundation, Rama Foundation, BM Foundation, KRIAA Foundation, Mahakankhya Foundation, Vijayani Foundation and HELP have been selected to receive Ratnashri Awards.

A brain storming session on “Vibrant Odisha Summit” will be hosted by WOS during the ceremony. Eminent commentators and erudite thought leaders will present their expert views on the Topic “Golden Odisha @ 2036. A souvenir ‘Swarnima’ is slated to be released during the meeting.

WOS was founded on Makar Sankranti in 2021 with 20 countries as members. The main motto of this apex association of Global Odias is to unite around one and half crore Odias staying outside of Odisha under one platform and channelize their material and metaphysical resources towards all round development of their mother state Odisha. Now after four years of existence the society has substantially enhanced its presence in major parts of the World having 73 countries as its members.
