Bhawanipatna: Two persons were killed after a speeding BMW car rammed into a stationary Hyva truck on Bhawanipatna bypass road in Kalahandi district on Friday night.
According to preliminary information, the luxury car crashed into the rear of the truck parked along the road late on Friday night. The impact of the collision was so severe that the front portion of the BMW was completely mangled, trapping the occupants inside.
After getting information, Fire Service personnel rushed to the spot and carried out a rescue operation. The damaged vehicle was cut open to pull out the driver and another occupant. Both died on the spot, sources said.
The deceased have been identified as Pintu Bag of Titlagarh in Balangir district and Gautam Nayak of the Dharamgarh area of Kalahandi. Police said the BMW involved in the accident bore the registration number of Haryana.
A team from Bhawanipatna Sadar Police Station reached the accident site, seized the bodies and sent them for post-mortem examination. A case has been registered and an investigation has been launched to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.
