Rayagada: At least two persons were killed and seven others grievously injured after a pick-up van overturned in Odisha’s Rayagada district on Sunday.
As per preliminary information, the mishap took place near Kachapadu under the jurisdiction of Bisamkatak police station in the district.
Locals said the van was carrying several people returning home after milling paddy when the mishap took place. The vehicle reportedly lost balance and overturned.
While two persons reportedly died on the spot, seven others sustained critical injuries. Local residents rushed to the spot and rescued the injured passengers from the site. The injured were immediately sent to a nearby hospital for treatment.
A police team from Bisamkatak visited the spot after receiving information and initiated an investigation into the incident. While the exact cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained, preliminary reports indicate that the driver may have lost control of the wheels.
