Bhubaneswar: In the fifth phase, the Odisha government is set to disburse the first instalment of the Subhadra Yojana on Thursday. Disbursement of the second instalment of the scheme will reportedly follow on March 8.
The scheme, aimed at empowering women, plans to conclude application submissions by March 31, followed by a survey commencing to identify any women who may have been missed.
As per sources, the initiative ensures comprehensive coverage by conducting door-to-door surveys to identify eligible beneficiaries who have been deprived of getting the first instalment of the scheme so far. As per the political experts, the Mohan Majhi government’s focus is on strengthening their support base among women through the Subhadra scheme.
Deputy Chief Minister, Pravati Parida, has disclosed that the fifth phase of the first instalment will reach 85,000 women. In total, the programme aims to benefit around 1.2 million women across all phases.
As per reports, applications have already reached 1.8 million, and after March 31, no further applications will be entertained. However, those eligible who are identified during the survey will receive all three pending instalments during the festival of Raksha Bandhan.
“In a bid to ensure that not a single beneficiary is deprived from the Subhadra scheme, one-to-one verification will be done,” said Deputy CM Pravati Parida.
In conjunction with International Women’s Day, the government has initiated various events at the panchayat level, running until 8 March. These events, targeting Anganwadi workers, self-help group members, and students, include rallies, sports activities, and quizzes. The success of the Subhadra scheme in aligning women with the ruling administration remains closely observed.
