Bhubaneswar: Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit to Odisha on June 20, a high-level meeting was held in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday to review security arrangements for his tour.
As per sources, officials from the Special Protection Group (SPG), Commissionerate Police, and Fire Service Department held a meeting at the office of the Director of the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in Bhubaneswar.
The Prime Minister is slated to hold a mega roadshow soon after his arrival in Bhubaneswar on June 20 as part of the BJP government’s first anniversary celebrations in the state. The roadshow will begin from the airport and culminate at Janata Maidan, where a grand event has been planned to celebrate the completion of one year of the Mohan Majhi-led government in the state.
After the preparatory meeting, senior officials inspected Janata Maidan to take stock of the preparations. Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhusan Jena and Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari also visited the venue to review the arrangements. In the meantime, stringent security measures have been put in place across the city in view of the Prime Minister’s visit.
As per the official schedule, the PM is expected to land at the Bhubaneswar airport at 3.40 pm. Following his arrival, he will be given a ceremonial welcome. From 3.45 pm to 4.15 pm, Modi will hold the roadshow up to Janata Maidan.
Thereafter, he will attend a mega public event at Janata Maidan till 5.30 pm to mark one year of the BJP government in Odisha. During the event, PM Modi will also unveil Odisha’s ‘Vision Document’ and also launch several development and welfare schemes of the state government.
After the grand programme, Modi is scheduled to leave for New Delhi at around 5.50 pm in a special flight from Bhubaneswar airport.
Bhubaneswar DCP Jagmohan Meena told reporters that the meeting regarding security arrangements for the PM’s visit was held in the presence of the SPG team. The team is also set to make a field visit to the airport, the roadshow route, and the meeting venue and finalise necessary security arrangements.
