President Murmu to visit Ganjam on August 4

Bhubaneswar: President Droupadi Murmu is expected to embark on a one-day tour of her home state of Odisha on August 4, with a primary focus on Ganjam district.

While the official itinerary from Rashtrapati Bhavan is still awaiting finalisation, highly placed sources indicate that the President may visit the revered Tara Tarini shrine, a major centre of Shakti worship in the state, as well as the picturesque Taptapani hill station, among other official programmes.

Located in Sanakhemundi block of Ganjam, Taptapani is famous across the region for its perennial hot spring, which is believed to possess medicinal properties due to the presence of sulphur, which is used to treat many skin disorders.

“The President may visit Taptapani on August 4. She is likely to interact with the local tribal communities during her tour. However, the itinerary of her visit is yet to be finalised,” the sources added.

A high-level team of senior officials recently conducted an extensive ground inspection at Taptapani to evaluate the security apparatus, traffic routes, and logistical requirements. The administrative review was led by Ganjam Collector Keerthi Vasan V, alongside Ganjam SP Harisha BC and Brahmapur SP Saravana Vivek M.
