Bhubaneswar: A police Sub-Inspector (SI) was found hanging inside his official quarters in Odisha’s Rayagada district on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Ashok Pradhan, the SI of Ambadala Police Station under Muniguda block in Rayagada.
As per reports, Pradhan, who hailed from Bigapadar village in Phulbani district, was found hanging inside his quarters within the premises of the police station in the evening.
On being informed, Pradhan’s colleagues rushed to the spot and rescued him by breaking open the door before rushing him to the Ambadala Community health Centre (CHC), where doctors declared him dead.
The incident has sent shockwaves across Ambadala. Preliminary information suggests that Pradhan had been living with his family in a rented house in Ambadala. He reportedly left the house in the evening and went to the police station, where the incident subsequently took place.
The owner of the rented house where Pradhan’s family was staying said that no quarrels or disputes had ever been noticed or heard within the family.
Meanwhile, the circumstances surrounding the suspected suicide have raised questions. It remains unclear whether work-related pressure or any other personal reasons led him to take the extreme step.
