Police issue traffic advisory for Ratha Yatra in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police has issued a detailed traffic advisory for Bhubaneswar ahead of the Ratha Yatra, Bahuda Yatra and Sunabesha celebrations to ensure smooth movement of the chariots and maintain public safety.

The restrictions will mainly affect traffic around CRP Square, ISKCON Temple and nearby roads.

According to the notification, special traffic restrictions will be enforced on July 16 during Ratha Yatra and July 24 during Bahuda Yatra. From 3 pm onwards, heavy vehicles coming from Khordha side will not be allowed to use the service road towards Fire Station Square until the chariots cross CRP Square.

During the same period, all vehicular movement will be prohibited on both sides of the route stretching from DAV School, Unit VIII to Mausimaa Mandir and CRP Square, as well as from CRP Square towards ISKCON Temple. The police have also barred vehicles from using the service road connecting the Kasturba School side and the Nayapalli underpass side towards CRP Square until the chariots pass through the junction.

For Sunabesha on July 25, no vehicles will be permitted to travel from CRP Square towards ISKCON Temple from 5 pm until the completion of Sunabesha darshan.

The Commissionerate Police clarified that the restrictions will not apply to emergency service vehicles, including police, fire and ambulance services.
