PM Modi hoists tricolour on Chenab bridge, dedicates projects worth over Rs 46,000 cr

Srinagar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated the hoisting of the tricolour on the iconic Chenab Rail Bridge on Friday, describing it as a moment of immense national pride and a testament to India’s growing capability to build futuristic infrastructure in the most challenging terrains.

His waving of the tricolour on the bridge not only signifies a moment of achieving development goals but the gesture also symbolises a beffiting response to the alleged attempts to destabilise the region by terror groups through the Pahalgam attack on tourists.

“The Tricolour flies high over the Chenab Rail Bridge! It’s a feeling of immense pride that this bridge seamlessly blends ambition with execution, reflecting India’s growing capability to build futuristic infrastructure in the most challenging terrains,” he wrote on X.

He also flagged off the Vande Bharat train service connecting Katra to Srinagar, marking the first-ever rail link between the Jammu region and the Kashmir Valley. These high-speed trains will provide a fast, comfortable, and reliable travel option for locals, tourists, and pilgrims, further strengthening connectivity and boosting regional growth and tourism.

Modi also laid the foundation stone for a new medical college in Jammu, reinforcing the government’s commitment to strengthening healthcare facilities in the region, stating that Rs. 46,000 crore worth of projects will accelerate development in Jammu and Kashmir, driving progress and prosperity. The Prime Minister extended his best wishes and congratulated the people on this new era of growth and transformation.

After inaugurating Chenab bridge and flagging off Vande Bharat Express, Prime Modi addressed a rally in Katra. “Pakistan is against humanity, tourism, ‘rozi-roti’ of Kashmiris and hence attacked tourists in Pahalgam,” he said as he referred to Operation Sindoor and the Pahalgam attack.
