Orissa HC to remain closed from May 19, vacation benches to hear urgent cases

Cuttack: The Orissa High Court in Cuttack will remain closed from May 19 to June 16 for summer vacation. During this period, the vacation benches will be constituted on select dates to hear urgent cases.

According to the schedule, the court will take up matters on eight designated days like May 20, May 23, May 27, May 30, June 3, June 4, June 10, and June 13. The High Court has advised litigants and legal practitioners to approach the designated benches only for urgent and time-sensitive cases during the vacation period.

  • On May 20 and May 23: A two-judge bench, comprising Justices Sangam Kumar Sahoo and M S Sahoo, along with a single-judge bench of Justice B P Satpathy, will hear urgent cases.
  • On May 27: A division bench of Justices K R Mahapatra and M S Sahoo will preside over matters. Single-judge benches of Justice V Narasingh, Justice B P Satpathy, and Justice S K Mishra will also be in session.
  • For May 30: A two-judge bench of Justices K R Mahapatra and M S Sahoo and single-judge benches of Justice B P Satpathy, Justice S K Mishra, and Justice A C Sahu will conduct hearings.
  • On June 3 and 4: Urgent cases will be heard by a division bench of Justices B P Satpathy and M S Raman, with each judge also presiding over individual single-judge benches.
  • On June 10: A two-member bench of Justices Aditya Kumar Mahapatra and M S Raman and single-member benches of both judges will hear pressing matters.
  • On June 13: A single-member bench of Justice Gourisankar Satpathy will hear urgent cases.
