Odisha To Provide Land Pattas With QR Codes To Curb Fraud: Minister

Bhubaneswar: As part of efforts to prevent land-related fraud in the state, the Odisha government is planning to introduce land pattas armed with QR codes.

Sharing this information, Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari said the initiative, to be launched in collaboration with the Central government, will ensure that Record of Rights (RoR) issued to the land owners is enabled with a QR code.

Stating that the code can be scanned to instantly access detailed information about the land, he said this digital verification mechanism is expected to bring greater transparency to land transactions.

The introduction of the new mechanism will go a long way in reducing fraudulent practices in the sale and purchase of land in the state, the Minister said, adding that the Tehsildar and Revenue Inspector concerned will be immediately alerted if any fraudulent transaction takes place.

Referring to land reforms, Pujari said a comprehensive land survey will be conducted across the state to determine the extent of government and private land.

A detailed database will be prepared covering land allotted by various government departments in the past, along with information on its current usage in order to ensure accountability and improve land management.
