Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has invited aluminium downstream companies to set up manufacturing units at the Anugola Aluminium Park, highlighting the availability of raw materials, industry-ready infrastructure and investor facilitation at a roadshow held in Kolkata on Monday.
The roadshow was organised by National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) in association with ASSOCHAM, with participation from Odisha’s investment promotion and industrial infrastructure agencies, IPICOL and IDCO.
Addressing the gathering, Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy described Odisha as a major hub of India’s aluminium industry and urged industries in West Bengal to explore opportunities in the state.
He said the national Aluminium Vision envisages a sixfold increase in aluminium production by 2047. Odisha currently accounts for around 60–70% of India’s aluminium production and more than 70% of its bauxite production, according to the release.
Ministry of Mines Secretary Keshav Chandra said a major expansion of NALCO’s operations in Odisha was under consideration. Such expansion, he said, would enhance material availability and create a stronger foundation for downstream investments in the state.
The Angul Aluminium Park, a joint venture between IDCO and NALCO, has been positioned as a dedicated destination for aluminium ancillary and downstream industries. Its proximity to NALCO’s smelter is expected to facilitate access to primary aluminium.
The park has developed industrial infrastructure, common facilities and a dedicated molten-metal transportation corridor aimed at enabling efficient manufacturing and greater value addition.
Investment opportunities highlighted at the roadshow include aluminium extrusions, rolled products, packaging and battery foils, conductors and cables, castings, automotive components and recycling.
The initiative aims to leverage Odisha’s strength in primary aluminium to promote higher-value manufacturing, while creating opportunities for MSMEs, skilled employment and stronger local supplier networks.
The state’s investment proposition also includes industrial land, power and water infrastructure, a skilled workforce and connectivity through the ports of Paradip, Dhamra and Gopalpur. Eligible projects can avail themselves of incentives under Odisha’s industrial policy.
IPICOL reiterated its commitment to assisting investors with land identification, statutory approvals, incentives and project implementation.
The programme included presentations on the Angul Aluminium Park, experience-sharing sessions by existing industries and roundtable discussions on investor requirements.
The Odisha government urged aluminium manufacturers to consider Angul for their expansion plans and build partnerships aimed at increasing downstream production and strengthening India’s aluminium value chain.
