Bhubaneswar: In a significant step towards strengthening Odisha’s industrial ecosystem and accelerating investment-led growth, the Land Allotment Committee (LAC), chaired by Usha Padhee, Additional Chief Secretary, Housing & Urban Development Department and Chairperson, IDCO, approved 63 project proposals on Thursday.
The approvals comprise 55 land allotment proposals and 8 proposals relating to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). These approvals are expected to facilitate the establishment and expansion of industrial and enterprise activities, strengthen the State’s industrial infrastructure and create new opportunities for investment and employment.
Under the leadership of Padhee, IDCO has undertaken focused initiatives to streamline the land allotment process, strengthen inter-departmental coordination and facilitate time-bound decisions on investment proposals. As part of these efforts, the Land Allotment Committee meetings are now being held every month to ensure regular and timely consideration of land allotment proposals. Further, a dedicated weekly mechanism has been put in place to hear and address grievances of investors and entrepreneurs, ensuring prompt resolution of issues and greater responsiveness in the allotment process.
These measures are aimed at reducing procedural delays, enhancing transparency, improving ease of doing business and enabling investors and entrepreneurs to translate their proposals into projects on the ground.
The emphasis on MSME proposals also underscores the importance of nurturing small and medium enterprises as key drivers of economic growth, innovation and employment generation. By facilitating access to industrial land and infrastructure, the State seeks to create an enabling environment for enterprises of different scales to establish, expand and thrive.
The LAC plays an important role in facilitating industrial development by examining and approving land-related proposals, thereby enabling investors and entrepreneurs to move forward with their projects. The regularisation of the allotment process through monthly meetings, coupled with weekly grievance hearings, reflects IDCO’s commitment to responsive, transparent and investor-friendly industrial governance.
