Bhubaneswar: In order to provide enhanced support to officers and employees of Odisha’s prison organisation in meeting expenses related to their official uniforms, the State government has doubled the annual uniform allowance for prison personnel and officers.
The enhancement has been done following approval by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. The annual uniform allowance for 378 prison officers, ranging from the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Prisons to Assistant Matrons, has been increased from Rs 3,000 to Rs 6,000.
Similarly, the annual uniform allowance for 2,122 Chief Warders, Warders and women Warders has been doubled from Rs 4,000 to Rs 8,000.
Official sources said the move will benefit around 2,500 officers and employees of the prison organisation across the state. The revised uniform allowance will be applicable from the current financial year, according to the government decision.
