Odisha CM Distributes New Ration Cards In Puri, 6 Lakh Beneficiaries To Receive

Puri: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi distributed new ration cards in Odisha’s Puri on the occasion of National Panchayati Raj Day on Thursday.

The Chief Minister handed over the coloured ration cards to beneficiaries newly added to the National Food Security Act (NFSA) and State Food Security Scheme (SFSS).

Around 5.9 lakh new ration cards will be distributed among beneficiaries under food security schemes on the occasion. The 6-inch-long and 4-inch-wide new ration card comes in A4 size glossy paper.

Deputy Chief Ministers KV Singh Deo and Pravati Parida, Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra and Panchayati Raj Minister Rabi Narayan Naik were among those present at the event.

As per the government order, the new applicants and addition of new members in the existing ration cards will get coloured NFSA and SFSS ration cards.

Notably, the district collectors had been directed to prepare the new ration cards by today and organise distribution through public functions. These cards will be distributed in a phase-wise manner.

Odisha currently has nearly 92 lakh ration card holders and the new applicants will get coloured NFSA (National Food Security Act) and SFSS (State Food Security Scheme) ration cards.
