Bhubaneswar: Marking 25 years of public service by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the nationwide Seva Sankalp Abhiyan (Campaign of Service and Resolve) is set to expand into a broad-based mass movement across Odisha, with a sharp focus on grassroots engagement and inclusive community welfare.
Housing and Urban Development Minister Dr Krushna Chandra Mahapatra championed the initiative, emphasising that the campaign must transcend traditional political boundaries to become a people-driven mission rooted in responsibility, public service, and nation-building.
The campaign structure is designed to penetrate down to organisational districts, Mandals, and polling booths, prioritising the state’s most vulnerable and marginalised populations. Special outreach efforts will target tribal communities, women, farmers, youth, and the economically deprived to listen to their needs and bridge gaps in accessing government welfare schemes.
To foster active participation, a series of statewide activities have been lined up, including blood donation camps, cleanliness drives (shramdaan), and large-scale tree plantation drives. This will also include youth engagement like School and college-level competitions, ranging from speech and drawing to open discussions, focusing on themes like Viksit Bharat-2047 and youth leadership.
Stressing that scale is less important than intent, Dr Mahapatra noted that every ordinary citizen can contribute meaningfully—whether by donating a unit of blood, planting a tree, or assisting a destitute neighbour.
“The Seva Sankalp Abhiyan is not merely a month-long program; it is a mindset, a responsibility, and a long-term resolve,” Dr Mahapatra stated. “Let us move from service to resolve, from resolve to development, and from development to a prosperous, empowered, and developed Odisha.”
