Bhubaneswar: In a strong and unequivocal message to officers accused of corruption, state Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari on Monday issued a warning, emphasizing the Odisha government’s zero-tolerance approach to graft. The statement marks a significant escalation in the administration’s efforts to clean up governance and hold individuals accountable, regardless of their rank or influence.
Addressing a press briefing today, the Minister declared that a statewide anti-corruption campaign has already been set in motion. “The campaign has begun, and no one — absolutely no one — will be spared,” he asserted firmly. The tone of the statement underscored the government’s determination to uproot corrupt practices embedded within the system.
Reiterating the consequences for those found guilty, the Minister stated, “Whoever engages in corruption will go to jail.” This statement comes amidst ongoing investigations and the arrest of several government officials across various departments. The Minister emphasized that there will be no political or administrative shelter for the guilty.
The Minister reinforced the Odisha government’s commitment to transparency and accountability, saying, “This is a matter of principle and public trust. Wherever corruption exists — in any department or at any level — action will be taken.”
He added that the government is resolved to fulfill its pledge of clean governance and that legal action will be enforced swiftly and strictly.
The Minister appealed to the general public for support in this endeavor. “Help us. Do not offer bribes to anyone, under any circumstances,” he urged.
Citizens were encouraged to report instances of bribery and malpractice, and to join hands with the administration in fostering an ethical and just administrative framework, he added.
