Bhubaneswar: A two-day National Conference on ‘Governance in India: Priorities, Policies and Prospects (3Ps)’ organised by Department of Public Administration, Utkal University was inaugurated at MKCG Auditorium on the campus today. Director of CDC, Utkal University Prof. Nigamananda Das inaugurated the conference in the presence of chief speaker Professor of Political Science, Hyderabad Central University Prof. E. Venkatesu.
The national conference intends to enhance policy awareness, participation of citizens in governing process & decision-making nodes, and to ensure good governance with major priorities and enriching integrity amongst functionaries.
Chairperson of PG Council, Utkal University Prof. Navaneeta Rath also spoke on the occasion. The conference’s abstract booklet and Public Administration Review (PAR) journal were released by guests in the inaugural ceremony. While Convener of the conference and head of the department Dr. Pratima Sarangi welcomed the guests, Organising Secretary of the conference Dr. Hemant Kumar Dash offered vote of thanks.
In a plenary session titled ‘The Curtain Raiser: Theorising and Administering Governance – The Priority Debacle’, Director General of Fire Service and Commandant General Home Guards Dr. Sudhanshu Sarangi, former Indian Ambassador Ambassador Debraj Pradhan, former Vice-Chancellor of Ravenshaw University Prof. Prakash Chandra Sarangi and former Chairman, PG Council & Retired Professor of Political Science, Utkal University Prof. Brahmananda Satapathy shared their insights on the topic.
Founding professor of the department Balakrishna Pattanaik was felicitated on the occasion. Similarly, more than 20 research papers were presented in two technical sessions on the first day. Around 40 more research papers will be presented in three technical sessions on Saturday. Of which, two best paper presentation awards with cash prize will be given to research scholars in the closing ceremony.
