Rayagada: In a fresh incident of sexual assault on vulnerable persons, a differently-abled minor girl was allegedly gangraped in Gudari area of Odisha’s Rayagada.
As per sources, the shocking incident took place on Monday afternoon, while it came to light after the village sarpanch and family of the survivor approached the police. Three youths have been detained in connection with the incident.
The minor girl a resident of Naira village had reportedly gone to the nearby jungle to collect firewood and was returning home when she was intercepted by three miscreants. They dragged her deep into the forest and allegedly took turns to sexually assault her before fleeing.
The girl managed to move out of the forest after the miscreants left the site. The survivor narrated her ordeal after reaching home following which a complaint was lodged with the police by the family, accompanied by the local sarpanch.
Based on the complaint, police launched a probe and detained three suspects. Further investigation is underway.
