Kalinga Stadium to greet 15K participants on 12th International Yoga Day

Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s Sports and Youth Services department has made elaborate arrangements to celebrate International Yoga Day on Sunday and appealed to the people to actively participate in the mass yoga campaign.

As a part of the State-level event at Kalinga Stadium here, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will lead the yoga session in the presence of Sports & Youth Services Minister Suryabanshi Suraj and others. Around 15,000 yoga enthusiasts will take part in the celebration which will kick off at 6.30 am on Sunday. While this year’s theme is ‘Yoga for Healthy Aging’, the Union Ministry of Ayush has planned to set a Guinness World Record by having the largest number of people participate simultaneously.

Ahead of International Day of Yoga, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday called upon people across India and the world to participate in the celebrations in large numbers. Speaking from Rairangpur, he highlighted that yoga has long been an integral part of the State’s cultural heritage. His message reinforces yoga’s role as a global movement for health, harmony, and well-being. “International Yoga Day is also being celebrated tomorrow, June 21st… Yoga has been a part of Odisha’s culture. From the land of Odisha, I appeal to the people of the entire country and the entire world, all of you should participate in Yoga Day in large numbers,” he said.
