Infosys senior associate caught filming woman in office washroom, arrested

Bengaluru: A senior associate at Infosys in Bengaluru has been arrested after being caught allegedly recording a woman inside the office washroom. The accused, identified as Nagesh Swapnil Mali, was confronted after the woman employee noticed suspicious activity from the adjacent toilet cubicle.

According to the First Information Report (FIR), the woman raised an alarm upon realising she was being filmed. Her alert prompted other employees to rush to the scene and apprehend Mali on the spot. A search of his phone revealed the recorded video, which was reportedly deleted by the company’s Human Resources team in the presence of the complainant.

Authorities have confirmed that the suspect’s phone has been sent for forensic analysis to retrieve deleted data and determine if other women were also recorded without their knowledge. Investigators suspect that this may not be an isolated case.

A similar case had emerged in Ayodhya earlier this year, in April, where a 25-year-old staff member at a guest house near the Ram Temple was arrested for allegedly filming a woman while she was bathing. The woman, a devotee from Varanasi, became suspicious after seeing a shadow and discovered that someone was attempting to film her through an opening in the tin roof. The accused, identified as Saurabh Tiwari, had multiple videos of other female guests on his device, which was seized by police during the investigation.

Both incidents have raised concerns about privacy and safety in public and professional spaces, prompting calls for stricter surveillance and preventive measures.
