Bhubaneswar: As downpour resumed after a brief break, heavy rain coupled with thunderstorm activity is likely to continue in Odisha over the next one week, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Monday.
The weather agency has issued yellow warning of heavy rain and thunderstorms for different parts of the state till the morning of August 10.
In its midday weather bulletin, the Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar issued a yellow warning of heavy rainfall in some places over the districts of Baleshwar, Sundaragada, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, and Gajapati during the next 24 hours.
Similarly, thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and gusty surface wind (wind speed reaching up to 30-40 kmph) is likely to occur at some places over Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Kataka, Sundaragada, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha, and Nayagada districts during the period.
On August 4-5, heavy rain is likely to occur at some places over the district of Mayurbhanj. Thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and gusty surface wind (wind speed reaching up to 30-40 kmph) may occur at one or two places over the districts of Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Kataka, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha, and Nayagada.
On August 5-6, heavy rain is set to lash the districts of Baleshwar, Sundaragada, Anugola, Dhenkanal, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, and Gajapati. Thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and gusty surface wind is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Kataka, Sundaragada, Anugola, Dhenkanal, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha, Nayagada during the period.
On August 6-7, heavy rain is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Baleshwar, Sundaragada, Anugola, Dhenkanal, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Kalahandi, Kandhamala, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati.
Similarly, thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind (wind speed reaching up to 30-40 kmph) may occur at one or two places over the districts of Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Kataka, Sundaragada, Jharsuguda, Baragada, Sambalpur, Debagada, Anugola, Dhenkanal, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Subarnapur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamala, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha, Nayagada.
On August 7-8, heavy rain is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundaragada, Sambalpur, Debagada, Kendujhar, Kalahandi, Kandhamala, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Nayagada.
Thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and gusty surface wind (wind speed reaching up to 30-40 kmph) very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Kataka, Sundaragada, Jharsuguda, Baragada, Sambalpur, Debagada, Anugola, Dhenkanal, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Subarnapur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamala, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha, and Nayagada.
The weather agency has also forecast heavy rainfall at some places over the districts of Kandhamala, Rayagada, Gajapati, and Ganjam districts till the morning of August 10.
