Fire Services employee attempts self-immolation in Kendujhar, alleges harassment

Kendujhar: A Fire Services employee reportedly attempted self-immolation to end his life at office in Anandapur in the district, citing mental stress and alleged harassment by a senior officer.

The incident reportedly occurred at the three-storey Shalapada Fire Services office, where employee Hemananda Dehuri climbed onto the rooftop and threatened to take the extreme step.

According to the allegations, Dehuri has been facing repeated mental pressure and harassment from officer Surya Hembram. Other employees present at the office intervened and safely brought him down from the rooftop.

Dehuri later alleged that he had been subjected to mental harassment on multiple occasions. He reportedly warned that he would take an extreme step if no action was taken to address his grievances.

The incident has raised concerns over the working conditions and alleged harassment of employees at the Fire Services office. Further details regarding any official action in connection with the allegations were not immediately available.
